I love the beach! There is just something so peaceful and serene about it. With the changing of the season, I am definitely itching to go to the beach already! Normally every year, my family (including my brother, sisters, and their families) go on a week beach vacation. This year, the plan is to go for just a few days, but I’m not complaining.
One of my favorite parts about visiting the beach is sitting in a beach chair, with my feet buried in the sand, soaking up the rays of the sunshine! (While of course wearing sunscreen! I don’t want my face to get wrinkly!!)
For me, that is where I find peace. But that’s not ultimately the source of my peace. I could go to the beach every single day, and still not compare to the peace that I find through Christ.
As a person who has struggled with many fears, having the peace of Christ reign in my heart is something I never want to live without. I could live without my beach chair, the warm grainy sand, AND the salt water that burns your eyes and tastes terrible! BUT, I could never live without God’s peace in my heart and in my life. It is truly irreplaceable.
I’ve lived without the peace that only Christ can give, and it is a miserable feeling-the worry, the fears, the anxiety- it takes over you. It takes over your everyday life, your plans, your dreams, and your family time. It takes over you until you have nothing left but an empty shell.
Let God’s peace live in your heart. Don’t let the things of this world steal your greatest joy…the joy of the Lord.
Isaiah 26:3 NLT:
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”
A song that has been ministering to my heart about finding true peace is the latest from Ellie Holcomb- “Find You Here.” My favorite verse of the song says this: “You’re overwhelming all my fear with peace”
I pray the peace of God finds its way into your heart today!
