We are listener supported and depend on monthly gifts for support . What sets us apart is we are actually part of a community in Southeast Louisiana and really love connecting with our listening audience. Working from home in the midst of the Pandemic, our station manager Julie thought it would be a good idea to touch base with a good portion of our monthly supporters. Not to request money, but to genuinely see how everyone is doing . There was no giving level, we just ran down the list and made the calls..
What an awesome privilege it was to be able to connect with our Lifesongs family on a personal level! You know how Julie says about “ Your momma and dem” , well that is basically who I was talking too..
One common thought in the midst of all the conversations that kept crossing my mind was that God’s people were O.K. I found watching the news sometimes I would get anxious and would feel fear , but usually after a couple of phone calls , I would feel my faith kick in again because of some great stories…. I heard numerous stories of friends trusting God when they had been laid off indefinitely . Chatted with some senior citizens in nursing homes who were not scared at all , but were witnessing to their neighbors from their wheelchairs ! It was so nice to talk to a number of moms that were suddenly thrust into homeschooling without a clue and we ended up sharing strategies for teen boys while dealing with wi-fi as slow as molasses.. By the way , I have a new respect for the literary classic “To Kill A Mockingbird”. I just wish I had re-read it sooner…
Sure there were some friends that were dealing with challenges , One gentleman’s father was in ICU, and another friend was dealing with struggling with their child with special needs. Some friends were nervous for their loved ones that were working on the front lines , as well as even worrying about our senior family members being safe… but when we prayed together it was as if in that moment God showed up and gave us the gift of Peace..
Jesus is the Prince of Peace and He is what connects our Lifesongs Family … Although the world was spinning from the Coronavirus Storm, we had Hope as an anchor.
2020 is a year that Lifesongs Celebrates our 41 years in Christian Radio for Southeast Louisiana.. I read recently that the number 41 represents a beacon of hope for postponed dreams and promised lands.
After Noah built the ark, it rained for 40 days and 40 nights. Day 41 came, and the rain stopped. For 40 days, Goliath bullied Israel, just begging for someone to come fight him. Day 41 came, and David stepped up and slew the giant.. After being baptized, Jesus fasted in the desert for 40 days and was tempted by the devil. Day 41 came, the devil fled, angels showed up, and Jesus launched his monumental ministry.
Whether you’re stuck in the storms of life; in serious need of a second chance; stranded in the wilderness of unexpected circumstances or unfulfilled expectations; facing what seems to be an unbeatable giant; or bearing up against unspeakable temptation, the pattern is clear. The number 41 represents the dawn of a new day—the hope and promise that if you don’t quit, the rain will stop, the giant will fall, and you will enter your “promised land.”
Just a thought, Our Governor’s stay at home orders for the Pandemic lasted about 40 workdays..
We are all stepping into a new phase in life after this global event..
What is the 41 in your life? What are you believing God for?
Hebrews 6:19 “We have this Hope as an anchor for the Soul, firm and secure. It enters the sanctuary behind a curtain.”
