This upcoming Sunday is Mother’s Day! Mom’s have one of the best and hardest jobs in the world! This is the day we get to pamper the one who first pampered us.
Mother’s Day is a day some look forward to, but for others, it is a time of sadness because of an estranged relationship or because of the loss of their mother.
There was a time in my own life when I didn’t have the best relationship with my mom. I would pray every night for things to change, and a few years ago God answered that prayer by restoring our relationship.
God is in the restoration business. Whether you have lost your mom or have an estranged relationship with her, I want you to know that there is hope.
Joel 2:25-27 (NLT) says, “The Lord says, “I will give you back what you lost to the swarming locusts, the hopping locusts, the stripping locusts, and the cutting locusts. It was I who sent this great destroying army against you. Once again you will have all the food you want, and you will praise the Lord your God, who does these miracles for you. Never again will my people be disgraced. Then you will know that I am among my people Israel, that I am the Lord your God, and there is no other. Never again will my people be disgraced.”
This is one of the greatest promises in the Old Testament. It shows us that even if something looks hopeless and has been destroyed, that there is hope in the promises of God restoration and redemption. And we can hold onto this same hope in our own lives and relationships. This Mother’s Day make sure to send your mom all of the love if she is present in your life. And if that relationship is estranged, I want you to hold onto the hope of Joel 2:25-27.
Happy Mother’s Day!
