This year I have learned the value of rest.
Before the whirlwind of 2020, I proclaimed that I simply didn’t know how to rest. I seemingly believed I just didn’t possess that personality trait.
Well, all good runs must come to an end and man did mine come to a screeching halt. This halt was one filled with burnout and no momentum to get up and go again.
Basically, I was forced to stop by my body and my mind. When I came to this halt I feared I would never go again and I actually missed the go go going.
But the thing about go go going is you miss things along the way. You miss details, you miss moments, and sometimes you can even miss God.
It was not God’s will for me to be living a life at such high speed. He wanted me to value rest as He does. There is a reason He says to rest on the seventh day.
We need it!
Now that I work from a place of rest I see things, hear things and smell all of the details. Most importantly I can hear God’s voice better.
What about you? Do you find yourself going with no end in sight? Let me tell you a little wisdom, you’re going to have to stop one day. So, take a break now rather than later. Trust me those tasks will be waiting for you after the rest, but you will be able to handle them better once you have rested.
Genesis 2:2-3 NLT
“ On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.”
