I once heard that we are the sum of our choices. Whether those choices are good, bad, wise, kind etc., there will always be a result from our choices.
Right now as a nation and a world we are being faced with many choices.
Take one look on social media, the news, an outing with friends and the idea of these said choices are raised.
In times like today, let’s choose kindness, empathy, wisdom, and most importantly love. Because when we love, fighting, hatred, and all offense has to cease. I guess that is why God is the very definition of love. Love cannot coexist with hatred towards another brother or sister made in the image of God.
1 Samuel 16:7 says, “….The Lord doesn’t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
God, being all knowing and having infinite wisdom chooses to look at our heart and our motives, over our actions. The next time you see a Facebook post that ruffles your feathers, I want you to recount 1 Samuel 16:7, turn the other cheek, and choose to believe that there is good in others.
I’ll leave you with this Martin Luther King Jr. quote,
“Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Hate multiplies hate, violence multiplies violence, and toughness multiplies toughness in a descending spiral of destruction.”
