Brace yourself! It’s coming!
Tis the season for:
Coolish temps at night and in the morning, but then you immediately regret your sweater decision by 12pm!
Daylight Savings Time is also coming to an end this Sunday Nov. 7. (Which means that it will get dark at 6pm!)
Longer nights and shorter sunlight can be a benefit because the kids can go to bed earlier, you can get more done around the house (since they’ll be sleeping!), and you might even have time to watch your favorite tv show!!
To be honest, I’m not a fan of Daylight Savings Time ending. I would MUCH rather have more time with the sun up!
Maybe it’s because I enjoy the warmth that the sun brings, the health benefits of it, and the amount of things I feel like I can accomplish while it’s daytime. (This is probably why I love summer so much!)
Maybe, it’s because I dislike the darkness. I don’t like being unable to see things around me or things that are far away!
Think of what it’s like to drive at night. You have to use headlights to see in front of you. You can put them on low beams, which is what you typically drive with. If you need EXTRA power to see far and wide in extremely dark areas, you switch to the high beams! (Like if you’re on a 2 way highway without any street lights!)
If you attempt to drive at night without your beams on at all, you wouldn’t get very far and you’d crash into something or someone. (I don’t recommend that at all, but you get the idea!)
You don’t have to look far to notice that this world is full of darkness, that fills you and I with fear. Isn’t it so cool though how just a glimmer of light can light up a dark room?!
Light and darkness is a topic the Holy Spirit is very passionate about. The amount of verses in the Bible is abundant! Here are just a few scriptures:
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalms 119:105 NLT
“O Lord, you are my lamp. The Lord lights up my darkness.” 2 Samuel 22:29 NLT
“He uncovers mysteries hidden in darkness; he brings light to the deepest gloom.” Job 12:22 NLT
“For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light!” Ephesians 5:8 NLT
“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12 NLT
When you accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, Friend, and have the Holy Spirit residing within you, you have the light of life to guide you!
No matter what’s going on in the world, you never have to fear the darkness and be overcome by it, because YOU ARE LIGHT!
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” John 1:5 NLT
I encourage you to search the scriptures for even more verses about this topic, and shine bright like a high beam for others to recognize Jesus in you!
