“If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” -Romans 10:9
Phil Wickham wrote his song “I Believe” because, he says, “I wanted a song I could stand on with joy in my heart – like a fist in the air but in love and grace and in faith saying this is who I am, this is who my God is, this is what I believe. For us as believers in Christ, there are some things we can know for sure from the scriptures: that God is love, and He is truth. That He sent His only son to save us. That Jesus Christ bled on the cross for our sins because we needed a Savior. That He rose again from the dead, and that in Jesus is life everlasting. He is the way the truth and the life.”
When life is hard and our path goes through dark valleys and take us into difficult places, fear can arise in us. Patrick Mayberry’s song “Lead On Good Shepherd” reminds us that even though God might lead us through some hard things, He will never let us down and we can fully trust in Him.
Shane & Shane’s song “You’ve Already Won” is a reminder of the hope and peace we have in Jesus, no matter what battles we may be facing. God has already assured us the victory!
Couldn’t we all use a little more JOY in our lives? Natalie Layne agrees. That inspired her song “Amen.” She shares, “Many hard things are happening worldwide, and I felt so heavy one week. I was driving out of my neighborhood, and one of my neighbors was out on their morning walk. They waved and smiled as I went by, restoring my faith in humanity for a second. I started thinking, what if there was a song where we could say ‘amen’ to all the good things happening in the world and not discount the hard things? We must acknowledge the broken things, but there’s a higher reality at work. There’s still joy even when hard things are happening. Grief and gratitude can exist at the same time.”
