When my son was a toddler, there was this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse book called “Road Trip” that we read so many times, that it fell apart!
To sum up the story, Mickey and his friends were looking for the beach, but ended up in other places! Check it out here:
The first thing my family and I did when restrictions were lifted was take a road trip to the beach. (We didn’t get lost by the way!) We didn’t go very far, but it was worth it to get out of the house for a few days!
The beach is one of my happy places. (Maybe it is Mickey’s too and that’s why he was looking for it??!)
There can be chaos going on in the world, (which there has been!) but when I’m sitting on the beach soaking up the sunshine, all my problems seem to disappear.
It brings me peace to hear the waves roll up on the shore, the seagulls squawking, and my kids asking to bury me in the sand!
There is something about the stillness of sitting and listening that brings a calm to my spirit. Those circumstances make for the perfect opportunity to hear the voice of the Lord.
The first day we went to the beach, it was high tide and the water was kind of rough because of the wind. The next day, the water was soo peaceful and the tide was SUPER low. You could walk out for miles without the water going above your knees.
There just so happened to be this sandbar that was about 100 feet from the shore. My kids thought it was THE COOLEST thing! So of course, we walked out there a bunch of times!
As we were enjoying our own little private island, I looked around and saw nothing but water. If I looked to the right, as far as my eye could see, there was water. If I looked to the left, same. There was no end in sight!
In that moment, God reminded me of the love, grace, and mercy He has for you and for me.
It is endless.
Ephesians 3:18-19 (TLB) 18-19 “and may you be able to feel and understand, as all God’s children should, how long, how wide, how deep, and how high his love really is; and to experience this love for yourselves, though it is so great that you will never see the end of it or fully know or understand it. And so at last you will be filled up with God himself.”
He sees your past and still loves you. He sees the mistakes you’ve made, and still loves you.
God’s love for you is never ending. Nothing or no one will change that.
