A truck recently spilled about 40,000 pounds of broccoli on the side of an Atlanta freeway. Atlanta traffic is bad enough! Can you imagine? My first thought upon hearing this was, “Was my son driving that truck?” Because a) he is probably a terrible driver, since he’s only four, and b) he seems to have an aversion to broccoli, too. Ah, the lengths to which our children will go to avoid eating their vegetables…or is that just mine?
It may not be avoiding broccoli, but we sometimes go out of our way, too, when we try to control things. If 2020 taught me anything, it’s that I am very much NOT in control. But, I think that’s a good thing! It’s so challenging to trust without seeing, but that’s what faith is all about. I mean, if I can trust the GPS on my phone to get me where I need to go – even to reroute me around a truckload of broccoli – I can let God be my life’s navigational system. And when I do exhale, let go, and truly place my trust in Him, it’s always a step in the right direction.
