Ever heard the saying, “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger”? How about this one, “Tough situations either make or break you”?
Truth be told, tough situations break you, then strengthen you… IF you choose to let them.
As you are heading into a new season with changing leaves, pumpkin spice, and hopefully cooler temperatures, you would’ve never thought at the beginning of 2020 you’d face what you have.
Maybe you never thought…
You’d see so many storms threaten the New Orleans area in such a small time frame!
You’d lose a loved one(s) to Covid.
You’d separate from your husband and now on the brink of divorce.
You’d become a homeschool mom.
You’d lose your job.
You’d struggle this bad financially.
You’d lose relationships with friends or family members because of differing opinions.
You’d see so much hate in the world.
You’d struggle to find hope every morning.
You’d have to be separated from those you love for so many months.
You’d lose sleep over what’s next.
You’d fear so much.
You’d cry so many tears.
You’d want a year to end as bad as you do right now.
You’d miss important milestones for your kids or those closest to you.
You’d have to choose between your job or your kids’ education.
You’d gain so much weight because of feeling depressed.
You’d have to be a single parent during the hardest year of your life.
You’d have to watch cities being burned to the ground.
You’d have to choose between black or white.
You’d have to wear a mask.
You’d have to work countless hours at the hospital or clinic.
You’d have to watch church from home because the doors were closed.
You’d have to be isolated in a hospital room because no one was allowed with you.
You’d realize the ‘things’ you thought were important, aren’t important at all.
You’d value your family as much as you do now.
Friend, there are so many things you weren’t prepared for this year and never thought would happen, but God has been with you all along.
Just like when you never thought you’d rise from the ashes of Katrina, you did. And just the same, you’ll come out of this a little stronger, braver, bolder, and hopefully, full of faith!
1 Peter 5:10-11 TPT-
“And then, after your brief suffering, the God of all loving grace, who has called you to share in his eternal glory in Christ, will personally and powerfully restore you and make you stronger than ever. Yes, he will set you firmly in place and build you up. And he has all the power needed to do this—forever! Amen.”
