Happy New Year! There’s something magical about January 1. It’s like stepping onto a fresh canvas, knowing the brush is in your hand and God’s already sketched out something beautiful. The smell of new possibilities is in the air—new goals, new habits, and maybe even a new journal with the first page waiting to be filled.
Recently, I had to make a change in my own life—I got a new car because my old one’s A/C gave out. If you’ve ever driven in a Louisiana summer, you know that’s a *no-go*. Every time I drove, it felt like I was sitting in an oven on wheels. For a while, I convinced myself I could get by, but eventually, the struggle wasn’t worth it.
Driving off the lot in a new car was like stepping into a whole new world. The A/C blasted cool air, the odometer barely had any miles, and that “new car smell” reminded me every time I got in that I wasn’t stuck with the old anymore. It was new, it was fresh, and it felt like a gift.
That’s what God’s mercies are like. Every single day, He offers us something new—fresh grace, fresh forgiveness, and fresh hope. He doesn’t just patch up our past or make small improvements. He wipes the slate clean. His compassion is limitless, and His faithfulness never runs out.
Here at LifeSongs, we’re doing a 2025 “reset.” Just like that new car gave me a fresh start on the road, this is your chance to step back, wipe the slate clean, and let God lead you forward. Now, I know it’s a little silly to compare God’s boundless mercy to a new car. Let’s be honest: it’s just a car. But isn’t it funny how sometimes we cling to things—broken relationships, unfulfilled dreams, or even our own pride—like I clung to that sweltering, A/C-less car? The bigger parts of our lives, the parts that really need a reset, aren’t too big for God’s mercy. He’s ready to refresh those too, one step at a time.
