In Reset by Josh

“Do not be anxious about anything… And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NIV)

I’ll never forget the night before a big decision that would change everything for my family. I couldn’t sleep. My thoughts raced like a hamster on a wheel, running in circles but going nowhere. What if I made the wrong choice? What if things fell apart? The “what ifs” piled up until my chest felt tight, and my pillow became a battleground for endless tossing and turning.

Finally, I got up, sat in the quiet living room, and poured my heart out to God. My prayer wasn’t polished; it was raw and desperate: “God, I’m scared. I don’t know what to do. Please, help me.” And then something unexpected happened. A calm I couldn’t explain settled over me—not because I had all the answers, but because I felt God’s presence in the middle of my uncertainty.

That’s the peace Philippians 4:6-7 talks about. “Do not be anxious about anything… And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds.” God doesn’t promise to magically erase the challenges we face, but He does promise a peace that goes beyond logic or circumstances.

Anxiety tries to keep us focused on the unknowns and the “what ifs,” but God invites us to bring those worries to Him. When we surrender our fears, we’re reminded that we’re not in control—He is. And He’s better at carrying the weight than we could ever be.

I’ve learned that peace isn’t about the absence of problems; it’s about the presence of God. It’s about trusting that He’s holding the pieces of our lives together, even when we feel like we’re falling apart. And that night in my living room? The situation didn’t change immediately, but my perspective did. I could breathe again, knowing I wasn’t facing it alone.

So, what’s keeping you up at night? Whatever it is, you don’t have to wrestle with it alone. God’s peace isn’t just a promise; it’s a gift waiting for you. Step into His presence today, and let Him exchange your fears for His unshakable calm.

Reflective Question:

What “what ifs” are weighing on your heart today? How can you bring them to God and experience His peace in return?
