“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 NIV
Have you ever felt completely out of your depth? Like the moment was just too big for you, and all you wanted to do was disappear? I’ve had plenty of those moments—I remember as a kid when even small things like speaking up in class or asking for ketchup at a restaurant felt monumental. It’s funny how those “small” struggles can feel so big when you’re in them.
As adults, life doesn’t really get easier, does it? The challenges just change. It’s not about ketchup anymore—it’s about navigating hard conversations, managing the unexpected, or trying to hold it all together when life feels overwhelming. And just like when I was a kid, it’s easy to wish someone else would swoop in and take care of it for me.
Here’s the good news: God isn’t just someone who swoops in—He’s already there. Psalm 46:1 reminds us that we don’t have to tackle life’s troubles alone. He is our refuge, our safe place to run to when things get hard. He’s also our strength, the One who holds us up when we feel like we’re falling apart. And the best part? He’s not just there for the big, earth-shaking storms—He’s ever-present, steady and unwavering, even in the everyday struggles.
Sometimes we think being strong means handling it all on our own, but God flips that idea upside down. True strength doesn’t come from pretending we’ve got it all together; it comes from leaning on Him. God isn’t asking you to figure it all out; He’s asking you to trust Him, to let Him be your safe place when life feels like too much.
So, whatever feels too big or too much today, bring it to God. Whether it’s a minor struggle or a full-on storm, He’s already there—ever-present, ready to be your refuge and strength.
