I ended 2020 with surgery on my shoulder. I knew the recovery would be long, but I didn’t realize it would feel so long. And I am weary. Not only is my body weary from discomfort and lack of good sleep, but my mind is also weary from having to rethink how I do so many things for what seems like so much longer than six weeks.
Do you feel weary? I think many of us are feeling weary right now. However illogical it was, we were hoping that when the clock struck midnight on New Year’s Eve, somehow all of the chaos of 2020 would disappear. But instead we’re dealing with many of the same issues.
If you’re struggling with weariness as I am, join me in letting these verses encourage you.
Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Isaiah 40:30-31
“Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
