Romans 15:13 says, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Austin French’s song “Good Feeling” is all about the overflow. He shares, “The past few years have taught me a lot, but one of the most life changing lessons I’ve learned is that true joy is only given from the Lord. That kind of joy is the opposite of fear, the weapon of loneliness, and the remedy of hopelessness. I believe it. I’ve experienced it, and it is too good to keep to myself. I gotta tell somebody! That’s what this song is all about. I hope it puts a smile on your face and some rhythm in your step. I hope it encourages you to hold onto the love and hope that you will always find in Jesus. I don’t know about you, but I’ve got a good feeling about that.”
In times of uncertainty (i.e. the last few years), we can rely on our dependable and faithful God. TAYA (from Hillsong United) shares about her song, “For All My Life” (from her new solo project) by saying, “For me it was about what God had done in my life up until this point and what this next new season was going to be. There’s a whole bunch of unknowns. Matthew 11:28 says, ‘my yoke is easy, my burden is light.’ That’s kind of the overarching theme of the song: that we don’t lean on our own understanding but we lean into God. He doesn’t leave us by ourselves to try and figure this out but if we surrender ourselves then we’re yoked with Him which means we’re actually learning how to walk the way that He would, teaching us to walk in the unforced rhythms of grace.”
