In a culture that flaunts the appearance of being strong, Jordan St. Cyr says his song “To Save My Life” highlights his weakness. “More times than I count, my circumstances have brought me to my knees. Paul writes in 2 Cor 12:9 ‘But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.’ As I began to understand this verse, it was the strength of Christ that made me strong and nothing of myself. This is why He alone is worthy to be praised and He alone has the power to save my life.”
Written during the pandemic, Brandon Heath’s song “Gospel Truth” is about reconciling the hardships of life with the knowledge of God. Brandon says the song is a reminder that God fills our needs and loves us in many ways. And that’s the (Gospel) truth.
